#itelli2019, the itelligence UK Annual Conference, was staged on Wednesday 15th May at the QEII Centre, London, UK. The conference brought the SAP community together for a unique event that has grown year on year with 1,300 applications received and a select audience of nearly 800 attendees. (The maximum capacity of the QEII Centre).
Delegates learned from the experiences of other SAP customers who are at the forefront of digital innovation and gained insight into how to leverage the new disruptive SAP technologies. #itelli2019 presented the enormous potential of digital transformation initiatives and embraced Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, the Internet of Things and Robotic Process Automation with real-life examples.
This year we invited speakers from some remarkable organisations - here is a quick snapshot of customers who presented:

- Chris Render, Delivering a Modern Data Platform at Hermes.
- Zak Hussain & Laura Ansell, The 1st 100 Days - A Customer Case Study of a Successful Managed Services Transition with Bauer Media.
- Filipa Fernandes, Engelhart Commodities Trading Partners (ECTP), Creating a Global Centre of Excellence. A Customer Viewpoint.
- Andrew Perry, Best Practices for Project Managing S/4HANA Transformation Initiatives with IESA.
- Jon Brooks, How Smyths Toys streamlined their online shopping performance in preparation for Black Friday.
The morning agenda included a review of the last 30 years to align with itelligence’s anniversary and presented how itelligence is building for the future. Norbert Rotter was welcomed to the stage to share the strategic direction of itelligence. Norbert presented a review of current performance, global objectives and reinforced itelligence’s commitment to the UK.
The conference then separated into 10 streams and 40 presentations with customer insights, interactive areas, hands-on zones and live demonstrations. With the volume of sessions available, we were able to cover all of the important topics:
Digital Core - Still the number one topic of conversation, SAP S/4HANA was heavily represented at #itelli2019. We shared expert guidance and real customer stories about planning for and adopting SAP’s flagship enterprise management solution.
Analytics and Data - To satisfy the curiosity of SAP BusinessObjects users who are curious about a hybrid future with SAP Analytics Cloud and to help customers who are drowning under an increasing deluge of data, there were plenty of analytics presentations available.
The Intelligent Enterprise - Many customers are exploring how to deliver transformation initiatives that resonate beyond the core operations of their organisations. From employee development and retention, improvements to customer experiences, closer integration with supply chains and more cost effective procurement, there were a number of sessions that helped explain how SAP’s latest solutions can align with these requirements.
Employee Engagement – With a dedicated SuccessFactors stream, the conference helped organisations move HR forward by creating a workforce experience that puts ‘people’ at the heart of the intelligent enterprise.
Managed Services and “off premise” SAP - As new solutions become available and hardware refresh cycles mature, the topic of managed services and the best way to run and evolve SAP investments is becoming more and more important. We had a number of sessions to help customers manage, build and plan for the future with an SAP Centre of Excellence, plus we highlighted the benefits of Cloud Infrastructure, and positioned the strengths of our SAP Managed Services.
Development - We removed the confusion about the best methods, techniques and approaches for developing with SAP. We also shared options for integration and highlighted the skills required to develop modern Fiori applications.
Mary Portas, the UK’s foremost authority on retail and brand communication concluded the conference by delivering a well-received keynote presentation and open Q&A with the audience.
